°µÍø½ûÇø General Alan Wilson announces Myrtle Beach man sent to prison for Solicitation of a Minor

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina °µÍø½ûÇø General Alan Wilson announced that on December 19, 2024, Thomas Jarrod Hood pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor in Georgetown County before the Honorable William Seals, Jr.

In February 2024, an undercover proactive investigation in Georgetown County was conducted that included other agencies that are part of the ICAC Task Force. During that investigation, Hood began speaking to a person he reasonably believed to be 14 years old and spoke about wanting to have sex with her. After receiving a predetermined location in Georgetown County, Hood traveled to that location in order to have sex with a person whom he believed to be 14.

Judge Seals sentenced Hood to eight years in prison, with credit for 302 days he’s already served. When he’s released, he must register as a sex offender.

The case was prosecuted for the state by Assistant °µÍø½ûÇø General Kristen Johnson.
